How might your current work contribute to the sustainability movement?
I am an engineering student hoping to get into the energy field, to help tackle the technology challenges of a sustainable economy.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Sustainability & Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I spent half my childhood in "my forest," a small backyard woods with a creek running through it. Since then I've had a love for nature and self-sufficiency which has translated into a passion for sustainability. With the obscene power of Big Oil and the impending menace of climate change, it is now more important than ever for communities to join up and implement solutions.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I worked for 3 years as a sustainability coordinator for a youth camp. I brought in $50,000 of grants and donations, helped our facilities reduce water and energy consumption by 40% and 16% respectively, managed a volunteer program, and instituted an environmental curriculum.
What aspects of the sustainability movement most interests you?
Working together as a community. Trying to do something about the problem!

Hi Ryan and belated welcome to the Transition California Community! Our team moved during Nov/Dec to a new headquarters so we got way behind on our work here. We have a 'Renewable Energy'group that needs an admin to post discussions and info on the subject - if your interested let us know. We inherited this network a couple years ago when our company became sponsors - since then we have been doing our best to infuse it with all things sustainable related and not just 'peak oil' which is the prime focus of official TT's. So if you would like to help us develop the Energy group into a real resource for the community that would be appreciated greatly.
