Profile Information

How might your current work contribute to the sustainability movement?
I'm a residential space planner who believes that we need to make our homes active partners as we move into a more resilient lifestyle! Modifying rooms and parts of rooms to accommodate our uses helps us amplify the skills we have to offer our community as well as anchor our new skills into our lives.

I'm also trying to shape a program that creates a path towards re-skilling where anyone/everyone can easily participate. A want to shape a program that provides a replicable framework that brings local masters together with eager students to offer income for one, learning for the other, and local vibrancy for all.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Sustainability & Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I resonate with the focus of working and impacting at the local level. We must "take control back into our own hands"and this is how we can best do that. It is a desire that many of us share, especially in the current political and economic climate.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
Residential space designer, program or project creation, speaker and writer. I was a "back to the land" homeowner in the 70's-90's doing it all from scratch, but alone with only nuclear family on 10 acres. Now I want to help folks do it smarter, urban, more collectively and with more support.
Your Personal Website (if you have one)
http://shelterand.blogspot.com
What aspects of the sustainability movement most interests you?
Home redesign for better resilience use, and re-skilling.
