Darkin Tanner has asked: "Can all of humanity thrive?"I know this is elementary, but I have to say yes, but depending on what is meant by "all of Humanity". I believe there is a certain size of…Continue

Profile Information

How might your current work contribute to the sustainability movement?
My gardening efforts enable me to be more kindred to a lot of the "Transition Kinds". Politically, I am Third Party and Direct Democracy advocate and "Centrist" or "Progressive"...but do embrace some of the principles of the Conservative Mindset. I do join "Occupy Sonora" on the curb on some Saturdays. My activism is "weak". I tend to get discouraged with the apathy and attitudes of other folks around me. Sonora does have some of the "Transition Kind", but I do not have much contact with them at this time. The best i can offer the "Transition Town Movement", at this time, is to speak for it whenever someone would listen. It is comforting and reassuring to be a member in your website. I have much to learn. Limited income.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Sustainability & Transition movement? Why are you interested?
In one unique way in particular I personally identify with the "Transition Town Movement". Since 1963 I became a dabbler in alternative culture building; setting out to build a part of New Tribalism, I call "New Barbarism", (Narbarism). Becoming skilled in ways to be self sustainable in Living is essential to Narbarism. Especially in the group skills of food, clothing and shelter production, in a wilderness setting. But, alas, I was too weak to inspire others with my "work" and have reconciled my self to just write and demonstrate visually (art efforts) about the Narbarian Culture. I see Transition Towns as potential allies for mutual help and trade.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
Aspects of Gardening, such as soil building, seed saving and certain experiments that have the goal of establishing domestic plants into low care wilderness adaptation.

Some leather craft and art ability. Writing; presently writing a three part story about prehistorical times...which is intended to become Narbarian Mythology.
What aspects of the sustainability movement most interests you?
Food production. Clothing production. Solar Power and Electric Vehicles. Human transition from Monopoly Capitalism and Corporatism toward Cooperative efforts such as "Co-Ops" and "Worker Owned and Operated Production Companies". Flintknapping.
Your Favorite Books/Websites/Blogs/RSS Feeds for Information about the Sustainability Movement
"Urantia Book", "Lord Of The Rings", "OpEd News.org", and more.

This and That

I haven't explored all of this site, but, so far, it looks like a great site to get involved with...as much as one can. I hope to come here more and more as I turn away from the ugly political scene of Our Nation.

Hoping to do some good for Sonora, California with this site. Have already told on sustainable community activist here about it.

I am grateful for Darkin Tanner's welcome below.

Hello Daniel and welcome to the Transition California Community Network! We are happy that you joined and welcome your involvement and sharing with the community. Apologies for taking so long to approve your membership and greet you but our team was in training and orientation since August 2012 and we are just now catching up with all the networks. Here is a link to the 'how to' video tutorials for using and navigating the network and if you have any questions feel free to contact me directly or post them here.

We have a couple groups that you may find interesting, the Organic Gardening & Permaculture group, and the Natural Building Network.

Thank you!
