How might your current work contribute to the sustainability movement?
If we want to start to really change our society beginning with energy renewal, pull power from the corporations running the nation, and ensure future prosperity, we must first start where the problem begins. In school, kids, and young adults as well as more mature adults. I want to create an environment where students in college, the current makers of the future, can live and prosper, save money, develop community, and learn vital skills they can use after their time in this area is over and they are ready to leave.
In what ways do you personally identify with the Sustainability & Transition movement? Why are you interested?
This is everything that I would like to see for my planet. For mother earth to come back into being what she once was in the more simple times. When humans were not the destructive force we are today. The transition movement brings forward ideas of times past that coupled with new technological advancements could propel us united as the human race into the next phase of our evolutionary path. To reach higher levels of conscious living and ensure the future and prosperity of this planet as a whole.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I do not have many skills, that is why I am here. I need to learn what I can do currently by any means and this website and community can help me do so. I am an amateur carpenter, welder. I know how to paint and do interior material construction. Experience with running a chain saw and building smaller everyday projects. I am a renewable energy resource major studying to bring forth new energy alternatives to society. I can speak to anyone about anything that is my main skill. To learn, research, and then share in order to learn more.
What aspects of the sustainability movement most interests you?
It interests me that the Transition movement is looking to revitalize life for humans worldwide starting at the community level. That there are new ways and old ways of sustainable living that are being taught through the Transition town movement. Food, and energy sustainability will be the norm if this is a success. I want to be a part of it and I want to help my community and my planet.
